1. Browser-side speaker and headphone tests
The ordinary speaker and headphone flow creates short test tones in your browser after you click a control. It does not require an account, camera, microphone permission, file upload, or server-side audio processing. The page records the listening choices you make in the current page session so it can display a result summary.
The site does not intentionally send raw test tones, microphone samples, or your listening response to a Sound Test server in the ordinary tool flow. Your browser, device, extensions, network provider, hosting layer, and optional third-party services may still process technical information under their own policies.
2. Optional microphone permission
The Microphone Test is optional and is separate from the speaker test. The page calls the browser's getUserMedia capability only after you click Start Microphone Test. If you grant permission, a local analyser reads signal activity to update a simple meter. The meter is not a recording, voice-quality score, hearing test, or calibrated measurement.
When you stop the microphone test, Sound Test stops the media tracks and clears the live level. If permission is denied, no microphone stream is started and the speaker test remains available. Your browser controls the permission prompt and may remember your choice according to its own settings.
3. Information that may be processed
- Technical information: Browser type, device category, operating system, language settings, referral information, timestamps, page performance signals, and error information.
- IP addresses and identifiers: Hosting, security, analytics, and advertising providers may process IP addresses, cookie identifiers, online identifiers, browser information, or similar technical identifiers.
- Usage data: Pages visited, broad interaction events, selected tool mode, and aggregated feature usage may be processed to understand whether the site works as intended. The ordinary flow is not designed to send raw audio samples as an analytics event.
- Support communications: The email address, message, browser details, and other information you choose to send to support@soundtest.wiki.
- Microphone data: The optional live input signal is analyzed locally for the meter. We do not intentionally upload or permanently store raw microphone audio through the public tool.
We may receive or process limited information needed to host, secure, operate, understand, and support the website. The exact information depends on your browser, network, provider settings, advertising configuration, and whether you contact us.
4. How information is used
Available information may be used to operate and maintain Sound Test, diagnose browser or layout errors, protect the site from abuse, measure aggregate performance, respond to support requests, improve accessibility, and comply with legal obligations. We aim to collect or share only information reasonably needed for the relevant purpose.
The page does not need the raw microphone signal or ordinary speaker-test tones to provide the basic result. If a future feature changes this data flow by adding saved results, accounts, server-side processing, recordings, or detailed analytics, the site should update this policy before that feature is used.
